Event Description
An Evening of Companion Planting
A seasonal meal and talk connecting people, nature, and our community garden.
Join us for the first in our new series of evening talks and meals, bringing together the community garden, the natural world, and the kitchen.
Doors open at 6pm – come early to meet fellow guests and settle in. At 6.30pm we’ll kick off with a talk on companion planting for food growers: how growing the right plants side by side can deter pests, boost yields, and create a more balanced, beautiful growing space. Then at 7.30pm, sit down to a delicious home-cooked seasonal meal including some of the plants we’ve talked about! Our speaker is our own Garden Manager Julie Smith, who is very passionate about growing gardens for people and wildlife.
These evenings are a chance to learn something new, connect with the nature on our doorsteps, share a table with new (and old!) friends, and enjoy some delicious food.
Coming later in the series: bats, butterflies, autumn and winter growing, Ukrainian cooking and herbs, seed saving, fungi, fruit trees, and pruning and hedging. Watch this space!
Tickets We offer three price levels so everyone can join us – choose whatever works for you:
- 🌱 £10 – Low/unwaged if this cost is still a barrier, please get in touch on gardening@stsidwells.org.uk
- 🌿 £15 – Standard
- 🌳 £20 – Supporter help us subsidise a place for someone else
