Event Description
An evening of fungi and delicious food
A seasonal meal and talk connecting people, nature, and our community garden.
Join our new series of evening talks and meals, bringing together the community garden, the natural world, and the kitchen.
Doors open at 6pm – come early to meet fellow guests and settle in. At 6.30pm we’ll kick off with a talk on fungi and how they permeate every area of life- including your home! Our wonderful guest speaker is Dr Christian Taylor, Associate Lecturer at the Open University School of Environment, Earth and Ecosystem Sciences. Dr Taylor will start at 6:30pm with a walk on St Sidwell’s ground for a bit of identification followed by a talk on the wonderful world of fungi. Then at 7.30pm, sit down to a delicious home-cooked seasonal meal, focused on mushrooms of course!
These evenings are a chance to learn something new, connect with the nature on our doorsteps, share a table with new (and old!) friends, and enjoy some delicious food.
Coming later in the series: bats, autumn and winter growing, Ukrainian cooking and herbs, seed saving, fungi, fruit trees, and pruning and hedging. Watch this space!
